It works by allowing you to partially de-saturate your photos - in other words, Photo Black & Color lets you keep certain colors in a photo and turn the rest into grayscale. This makes the main objects in the photo really stand out, and it adds up to a really impressive artistic effect.
Using Photo Black & Color couldn't be easier. Add the photo you want to work on via the Open button, or by dragging and dropping the image into the interface. Pick the colors you want to keep with the dropper. You'll see them appearing in the left panel, and you can remove them if you want. Then pick the effect you want to apply - Photo Black & Color offers you Progressive contour, Color gradient and Sepia.
Then just hit Enter and wait, and after a few minutes, your masterpiece will be revealed. The great thing about Photo Black & Color is that it has an undo button, so you can learn what effects are the best through trial and error. The app also lets you change the final size of your image, and to zoom in and out to allow for more accuracy when you're picking colors.
